Rooms & Positions
The position/location of internal rooms in our houses play a very vital role on our daily life and lifestyle, especially if wrongly placed, it leads to wrong Vaastu!
Normally these important aspects are usually ignored and are design/construct without considering the principles and rules of time tested Vaastushastra.
Bath Room
Bathrooms ideally are to be placed in the EAST direction, since the mild rays of the morning sun have good healing powers and gives one a fresh feeling. The slope of the floor should be towards NORTH so that water drains on the northern side.
Kitchen
Kitchen, resembles the place of FIRE (Agni), which is SOUTH-EAST side, the place of 'God of Fire' (Agni Dev), therefore, kitchen should be in the SOUTH-EAST direction and should never face NORTH-EAST, SOUTH-WEST or in the NORTH, SOUTH or WEST side.
The stove should be kept in the SOUTH-EAST side of the kitchen, such that while cooking the person should face towards the EAST. Water bodies like the sink/wash basin, water pot... should be placed in the NORTH-EAST corner. Shelves/racks should be placed on the SOUTH or WEST side.
Bed Room
Bed-Room for the head of the family should be in the NORTH-WEST, SOUTH, SOUTH-WEST direction. Bed-room for unmarried children, member should be in the EAST side. Bed room should NEVER be located in the NORTH-EAST direction, as it gives adverse affects. Masters Room Bed room of the head of family should be larger than that for other members of the family.
Bed should not be placed in a corner or in the center of the room. Also it should not be placed touching the walls. It should be placed in the east or south portion of the room in such a manner that head of the person while sleeping remains towards south and feet towards north, one should never sleep with head towards north.
Dining Room
The most important thing to be considered while selecting Dinning area is the WEST. The dining table should be arranged in the SOUTH-WEST or NORTH-WEST side of the room. The table should NOT be of any irregular shape complete CIRCLE should be maximum avoided, as it is considered in auspicious.
Water storage/Refrigerator should be facing NORTH-EAST. Electrical appliances, Microwave, Radio, Alarm system...should be kept in SOUTH-EAST direction. While eating/having meals one must face towards EAST or NORTH.
SAFE
All the valuables, jewelery, ornaments, cash, costly utensils, gold/silver...should be kept in a SAFE IN north direction. NORTH direction depicts KUBER, the GOD OF WEALTH and PROSPERITY. The safe should be placed in this room besides SOUTH WALL, and should open towards NORTH AND while opening it should face towards SOUTH.
Puja Room
The ISHANYA or the NORTH-EAST corner is designated for God (Eeshwar); hence the puja room should be built in this corner. This corner should not be used for any other room like bed room, kitchen, guest room..., and heavy/permanent articles should be placed in the puja room.
Cleanliness and bright illumination must be maintained all over. One should sit facing NORTH or EAST while worshipping or offering prayers. Idols or pictures of the deities can be placed in this room. However there should be NO war themes, Sinking ships or Crying women/baby and also ensure that there should be no pictures of Black cats, Owls, Black Panther...
Toilet
Domestic toilets should be located between SOUTH and SOUTH WEST. NORTH-WEST direction is also allowed.
The seating arrangement in the latrine should be such that any person may sit facing NORTH or SOUTH. The floor should have slope towards NORTH-EAST and the outlet for water should be towards NORTH, EAST or NORTH-EAST.Study Room
The best place for study room is WEST and SOUTH-WEST. The person should sit facing NORTH or EAST while studying. The study table should not be of any irregular shape or should not be too high, also it should not be placed touching any walls as in edifice science it is considered inauspicious.
Book-shelf should be placed along the NORTH-EAST corner. A small IDOL or PICTURE of any deity or any inspiring personality may be kept in the NORTH-EAST portion at a height.
Medicines
NORTH and NORTH-EAST direction of a room should be used for keeping medicines and for ill persons. Morning sun rays and fresh nourishing air form the NORTH, help in empowering the medicines and early recovery of the patients.
Common Room
common room should be ideally located between EAST and NORTH-EAST
Boundary Walls
Boundary, if considered to be built, it should be on the NORTH and EAST side and should be of less thickness, and the walls on SOUTH and WEST side can be built thicker. Construction of the wall must be started from the South-West corner and work must proceed towards EAST or towards NORTH in the first phase of the construction.
The Main building to be constructed, if built in the center of the plot, symmetrically leaving equal open spaces on all the four directions is considered auspicious.
Basement (Cellars)
Basement should be built in the NORTH or EAST portion of the plot. As per principles of Vaastu and edifice science it is necessary to keep SOUTH level always higher. Basement will be auspicious and beneficial only in the NORTH or EAST portion of the structure.
Basement should not be constructed in the central portion or in the SOUTH or WEST portion of the structure, Proper ventilation and natural lighting should be provided towards NORTH. Stairs or ramp leading to the basement from outside has to be in the NORTH or EAST.
Light (Electricity)
In every construction activity, consideration of NATURAL LIGHT source is not only important but also gives an aesthetic look and feel. Similarly Electricity is the main source of energy these days.
Main switch board and electric meter should be fixed in the SOUTH-EAST side of the house/building. It is not auspicious to provide switch boards on the LEFT or CENTER OF THE WALL. Due to BAD lighting arrangements is attracts sources like flies, mosquitoes, germs and other unwanted parasites, which are obviously harmful. Several diseases, like anemia, impurity of blood, dyspepsia... are cured from sun rays and passing the sun rays through water. Exposure of the body to mild sun rays also cures many diseases.
